Are You Eligible for EEOICPA Home Health Care?

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) was passed by Congress in 2000 to support workers who became ill after years of service in the nation's nuclear weapons production programs. Many former employees at Oak Ridge sites such as K-25, X-10, and Y-12 were exposed to radiation, beryllium, silica, and other toxic materials while contributing to the Manhattan Project and the decades of nuclear work that followed. That exposure history is often the key to unlocking home health care eligibility today.

If you don't have one yet, you may still qualify, and many Workers' Compensation beneficiaries with related occupational illnesses can access similar home care support even without a white card.

If you or a loved one worked at a covered nuclear or DOE facility, you may already qualify for skilled nursing, medical evaluations, and other home health services at no cost to you.

You may qualify for EEOICPA home health care eligibility if you:

• Worked as an employee or contractor at a Department of Energy facility, including Oak Ridge's K-25, X-10, or Y-12 sites, or another covered DOE location nationwide
• Have been diagnosed with a radiogenic cancer, chronic beryllium disease, beryllium sensitivity, or chronic silicosis (Part B criteria)
• Developed an illness causally linked to toxic substance exposure at a covered facility, including chemical, solvent, metal, or radiation exposure (Part E criteria)
• Are a surviving spouse, child, or dependent of a worker who met EEOICPA eligibility requirements
• Already hold a Department of Energy worker home care white card
• Have an active Workers' Compensation claim tied to an occupational illness requiring in-home nursing or personal care
